We provide the best cattle feed because we understand that good nutrition produces a champion herd. Learn more about our feeds below.

High Phos 7 Blocks

This is a general mineral supplement block that emphasizes phosphorus supplementation during the rainy season when soil nutrients are at a higher risk of leaching. Phosphorous is vital in the energy metabolism system and this is important during summer when there is plenty of forage around. However, it can still be used all year round. It is also beneficial when fed to dairy cows as an additional supplement.

Feeding Recommendations

  • It is not necessary to limit intakes as the animals will regulate themselves based on requirements.
  • The general recommendation is 1 block per 20 head of cattle or LSU equivalent.
    • Equates to 150g of block/head/day for mature animals.
    • 80g of block/head/day of growing stock.
Phosphorous 7 Square Block

Winter Block (30% Crude Protein)

This supplementary feed has been formulated to aid the cattle in extracting maximum nutrients from the available grazing during leaner winter months. Due to lower fibre degradability and scarcity of grazing, the high protein content, with a maximum 6% urea content, aids the rumen microflora in maximizing the available nutrients for the animals’ requirements. The feed also contains a concentrated level of essential vitamins and trace elements to ensure high productivity and reproductive performance with healthy high immune status animals that maximize their fertility potential.

Feeding Recommendations

  • Allow 1 block per 20 head of cattle for a 15kg block and 1 block per 30 head of cattle for a 25kg block.
  • Intakes will vary depending on the physiological stage and age of the animal, available grazing quality and quantity. Generally, the range varies from 300g – 800g/head/day.
  • Caution: This feed contains up to 6% urea and animals should gradually be introduced to this supplementary feed. Avail salt rocks or licks for up to two weeks before exposure to the block and introduce them gradually over two weeks.
Winter Circle Block 30%

Winter Block (45% Crude Protein)

This supplementary feed has been formulated similarly to the 30% Winter Block. As the ratio of non-protein nitrogen (NPN i.e. urea) to natural protein sources is higher, this feed is ideal for breeding cows and heifers for growth, production, and reproduction.

  • Intake will vary depending on physiological stage and age of the animal, available grazing.
  • Caution: This feed contains up to 6% urea and animals should gradually be introduced to this supplementary feed. Avail salt rocks or licks for up to two weeks before exposure to the block and introduce them gradually over two weeks.
  • Feed especially to breeding cows and heifers, as the higher natural by-pass protein percentage is highly beneficial for foetal growth and development (especially in the last trimester), colostrum production, and general lactation purposes.
Winter Circle Block 45%

Winter Cubes (45% Crude Protein)

This supplementary feed is very similar to the Winter Blocks. Take note of the feeding recommendations.

Feeding Recommendations

  • Allow 0.6m feed space per head.
  • Intake can be lowered where hay, grazing or alternative sources of forage are available.
  • Caution: This feed contains up to 6% urea, and animals should gradually be introduced to this supplementary feed. Avail salt rocks or licks for up to two weeks before exposure to the cubes, and introduce them gradually over two weeks.
  • Feed especially to breeding cows and heifers, as the higher natural by-pass protein percentage is highly beneficial for foetal growth and development (especially in the last trimester), colostrum production, and general lactation purposes.

Bull Conditioning Cubes (16% Crude Protein)

This feed has been designed as high energy, high by-pass protein diet ideal for supplementing bulls in preparation for insertion into the breeding cow herds. Ideally, they should be offered the feed for 2–3 months before being placed with the cows, to adequately condition them for the increased physical and nutritional demands associated with breeding. Optimum vitamin and mineral profiles have been specifically formulated for a quality spermatogenesis period, which is more than a 7-week cycle.

Feeding Recommendations

  • Feed at a rate of 2kgs-4kgs/head/day depending on the forage availability and quality as well as the body condition of the animals.
  • Make fresh, clean hay and a quality water source available ad-lib.
  • Exercise is also recommended to prevent ‘over-conditioning’ of the bulls before they are run with the herd.

Beef Survival Meal (11.5% Crude Protein)

This ration has been formulated as a maintenance meal for animals during times of excessive feed stress such as drought or extremely dry areas during the winter months. It is a high fibre, cost-effective feed that will nourish ruminants to minimize the stress during the harsher periods.

Feeding Recommendations

  • Can be offered ad-lib in conditions where zero grazing or forage is available, at 3.0% to 3.5% of body weight.
  • Intake can be lowered where hay, grazing or alternative sources of forage are available.
  • This is designed as a maintenance feed and should not be expected to meet high production demands.

PEN FEEDING MEAL (12.6% Crude Protein)

This feed has been designed to be a completely balanced meal to finish cattle under pen feeding conditions over 70-90 days. It contains the perfect balance of energy and protein for optimal muscle growth and deposition, whilst ensuring quality fat cover to meet the genetic potential of that animal. Adequate roughage to ensure optimal rumen function has been incorporated into the product, to maximize the growth of the animals. Whilst chiefly designed for fattening animals, it may be used for general maintenance purposes (see feeding recommendations).

Feeding Recommendations

  • Feed ad-lib to beef animals intended for finishing, using a guide of 3.5% of their live weight as a yardstick. This may range from 8kgs-15kgs/head per day.
  • An adaptation phase of 10-14 days is recommended for the rumen microflora to align with the new nutrient profile. Gradually increase the level of Pen Feeding Meal until they are consuming the recommended level.
  • Always ensure adequate feed space and fresh, clean water for optimal intakes and growth.
  • For maintenance, feed at a level of 2kgs-5kgs/head/day depending on available roughage and other grazing.
  • Although designed to contain enough roughage, it is always good practice where possible, to make quality hay or alternate roughage source available. This will help the animals regulate themselves should the need arise.

VELD FATTENING CUBES/MEAL (16.1% Crude Protein)

This product has been formulated to allow for fattening animals off good quality grazing, veld, and/or pastures. Whilst much of the protein required for muscle (meat) deposition is provided by the grazing, supplying high-quality by-pass proteins not available in the grazing and extra energy is the goal of the Veld Fattening Cubes/Meal. This feed may also be fed as a supplementary or maintenance feed, especially to bulls.

Feeding Recommendations

  • Feed at a rate of 2kgs-6kgs/head/day depending on the quality and availability of the forage source, as well as the live weight of the animals.
  • For maintenance purposes, feed at a level of 2kgs-4kgs/head/day depending on available roughage and other grazing.
  • Always ensure adequate feed space and fresh, clean water for optimal intakes and therefore growth.
